I set a goal, nay - more of a challenge, for myself. I decided that I would catch a ride into town this morning and run home (remember, those of you who pay attention, I live in the country - the area outside of city limits).
Now that might not sound like much of a challenge knowing that I am passionate about running and do so on a very regular basis. But it was a bit of a ridiculous challenge for myself at this particular time because I have been having pretty severe back spasms for some unknown reason and I have the mother of all blisters on my foot right now from wearing the wrong pair of shoes (totally different story altogether. Not one you'll ever hear because I'm not at all thankful for it!).
But our vehicle is not working right now and if I stayed in town until my ride went back out to the country, I'd be in town for the bulk of the day. So it was partly out of necessity and partly out of stubborness that I decided to pack my running clothes and get myself home on my own power.
I'm thankful to let you know that my back handled the run just fine and although my blister might have ballooned out just a bit more, it didn't bother me at all during the run. Sometimes setting challenges for ourselves can backfire but I'm thankful that today's challenge was successful and quite enjoyable. Just like a good challenge should be :)
