Garden Time!

This will truly be a once a year post.  For one in the north can only plant a garden once a year - it's a short growing season!
We have a small garden but we love it dearly.  We plant enough beans, peas and carrots that we can munch on them all fall and still have enough to freeze a bit for the winter.  The lettuce gets used up as soon as it matures and the kids will eat the onion tops raw (gasp!) as soon as they have ripened (do onions ripen?).  Potatoes always do well and last us until Christmas usually.  That's about all we have in our garden.  Oh yes, we're trying broccoli and cabbage again this year.  The cabbage did alright last year but the broccoli all got eaten by deer.
It's always a bit of an adventure to see what will survive and mature into the "fruit of our labour".  I enjoyed putting our garden in today and can't wait to start eating our fresh produce.  I'm sure I'll blog about the first of each plant we eat - wait for it to come in the near future!  A.
