Here is where the true guts of this post comes into fruition. It's always easy to be thankful for sunshine and icecream but to be thankful for meetings? I'm going to do it!
Because of teachers' job action, we have not had a staff meeting all year! I've been very thankful for that :) However, the "Powers That Be" have legislated a contract on us so we now have to attend staff meetings again. Now that I've sat through the first one of this school year, I have to grudgingly admit that they have their place. It is much more efficient to discuss important school issues with everyone in the room together rather than chase everyone around the school trying to get consensus on an issue. It's the first time our whole staff has been in one room together this year. That was kind of nice. We were able to clarify some questions that had been lurking for awhile. I guess that's a good thing. Our administrator always gives out door prizes for the staff that is there on time. That's pretty sweet of him (Staples gift cards today! Jealous, J?).
So I am reaching way, deep down to find this thankful post today. Instead of being thankful for double digit warm weather (SO wonderful), the chocolate chunk cherry ice cream I had last night (mmmm) or the delightful walk I had with my dog today, I am thankful for staff meetings. (A tiny bit of throw-up may have just come into my mouth). A.
